ISLAMABAD – British High Commissioner Jane Marriott has engaged with a broad range of Pakistani politicians as the country of over 240 million is heading towards its next elections.
Ambassador Jane Marriot held a series of meetings with the country’s leading political figures as polls scheduled for next month draw closer.
The agenda of back-to-back meetings revolved around exploring and enhancing the bilateral interests between Islamabad and London and for free and fair elections.
Ms Marriott also acknowledged the importance of imminent general elections in South Asian nation, calling these elections a vital turning point for future of the country. She further expressed her interest in the democratic process and the potential outcomes of the political events.
The British envoy travelled to all major cities including capital Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, as part of routine engagement with political actors.

In federal territory, she interacted with PTI new Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. In Punjab’s capital Lahore, Ms Marriot called on PML-N supreme Nawaz Sharif, and she is slated to exchange views with other leaders from the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and Pakistan Muslim League (Q).

In the port city of Karachi, the envoy met Pakistan Peoples Party PPP, Grand Democratic Alliance GDA, and MQM-Pakistan leaders.
She will continue to engage with other parties in the coming weeks as she mentioned that timely elections are pivotal to tackle challenges.
