Efforts afoot to drain rainwater: KWSC

Instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) ensured the drainage of rainwater by delivering all the suction machines, dewatering pumps and other machinery before the rainy season.

According to the spokesperson of KWSC, before the rains, the KWSC administration has taken measures to protect various important highways and deep areas of the city, Metropole Hotel, Chief Minister House, Governor House, Muslim Gymkhana, Merry Weather Tower, Bilawal Chowrangi, Jinnah Airport, Arts Council Chowrangi, P.C Hotel, 26 Street, Jinnah Hospital, Nursery, Gora Graveyard, Baloch Colony, FTC Flyover, University Road, Shahrah Quaideen, Wazir Mansion and various locations of MA Jinnah Road delivered all suction machines and other machinery including dewatering pumps and ensured drainage of rainwater.

The spokesman KWSC said that the COO KWSC Engineer Asadullah Khan visited the city and personally inspected the drainage works. On this occasion, COO KWSC said that the water corporation vehicles will remain on the roads until the drainage of rain water is completed, and in this regard, the staff of the KWSC is engaged in serving the public round the clock.

He further said that by fully implementing the instructions of the Chief Minister Sindh and Mayor of Karachi, the KWSC along with all other local bodies including the KMC is completing the rainwater drainage process on an emergency basis.
