Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Monem Zafar Khan emphasized that education is the cornerstone of national progress but lamented that Sindh’s education sector has suffered immensely during the Pakistan People’s Party’s 16-year rule. He made these remarks while addressing a ceremony in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town’s Nishtar Colony, where free uniforms and shoes were distributed to schoolchildren. Monem Zafar Khan shared that Jamaat-e-Islami has rehabilitated 33 schools and 120 parks across the city within a year. He affirmed that no educational institution or park under Jamaat-e-Islami’s administration would be handed over to NGOs. “We will stand by the teachers and students, ensuring their educational journey continues with full support,” he asserted.

Dr. Fawad Ahmed, Chairman of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, highlighted the emphasis on education under Engineer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman’s vision.

He noted that due to the restoration of school infrastructure and the tireless efforts of teachers, the number of students in schools had increased by 100% within a year.

He added that funds from the town, which are the rightful property of citizens, were used to provide free uniforms and shoes to 50% of students whose families couldn’t afford them. During the event, students performed national songs and tableaus, expressing joy over receiving free uniforms for the first time. This initiative was praised as a testament to Jamaat-e-Islami’s dedication to social welfare. Under the “Alkhidmat Bano Qabil” program, IT courses are being introduced in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, with registration ongoing. The entry test is scheduled for December 8 at the Sunday Bazaar Ground near Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque, offering young people modern training opportunities. Monem Zafar Khan emphasized that Pakistan can only progress by prioritizing education. Criticizing the lack of government action, he stressed that Jamaat-e-Islami is dedicated to restoring education and public facilities, ensuring a brighter future for the nation.
