ECC extends subsidy on 5 commodities at USC

Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), Mon-day, approved an extension of 15 days on subsidy of five commodities available at utility stores.

The five commodities that would continue to be provided on subsidized rates at utility stores included sugar, ghee, rice, flour, and pulses.

The ministry of indus-tries and commerce has demanded a six-month ex-tension in the subsidy and the ECC formed a com-mittee to mull over the proposal and submit a rec-ommendation soon.

ECC met here with meeting headed by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin in the chair and also ap-proved supplementary grants for the interior minis-try and other ministries.

In the previous meeting, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin presided over a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in Islamabad and approved a summary for the release of funds for the establishment of border markets in Balochistan.
