On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Ali Shehzad, three profiteers have been arrested during a crackdown by price magistrates. A total fine of Rs700,000 has been imposed on the grain vendors fro profiteering.
Assistant Commissioner (City) Khawaja Umair, while taking action against the big departmental stores involved in grain sale, has imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on KK Mart and Rs50,000 on Ideal Mall while a fine of Rs30,000 has been imposed on Fayyaz Mart and Rs30,000 on Super Saver Store. Similarly, Latif Super Store in Gulgasht was sealed off for profiteering.
According to officials, commodity prices were inspected at more than 600 stores across the district in the last 24 hours.
