Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, an esteemed Kashmiri leader and a prominent advocate for the Kashmir Liberation Movement on the international stage, was honored with the Life Achievement Award by Institute of Peace and Development (INSPAD) for his enduring and impactful contributions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the award ceremony took place during the Round Table Peace Conference held in Rawalakot and it was organized by INSPAD.
Addressing the conference participants as the Chief Guest, Dr. Fai who also heads the US-based Kashmir Awareness Forum emphasized the critical role of a strong, stable, and prosperous Pakistan in resolving the Kashmir issue. He asserted that in today’s world, only economically and politically developed nations can wield significant influence in international diplomacy and decision-making processes.
The conference, titled “Present Situation and Future Strategy of Kashmir,” was presided over by Commissioner of Poonch Division, Sardar Waheed Khan, and President of INSPAD, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Tabasim. Dr. Tabasim outlined the conference’s objectives, highlighting the atrocities and brutality faced by Kashmiris and Palestinians, as well as the historical contributions of the people of Poonch to the Kashmir and Palestine movements.
Distinguished attendees from various fields including former judges, lawyers, bureaucrats, educational experts, intellectuals, civil society representatives, and journalists participated in the event. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Tabasim commended Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai and his colleagues for their tireless efforts in advocating for the Kashmir Liberation Movement, particularly in the United States.
During the conference, participants discussed the sacrifices made by the region and emphasized the importance of wise action to strengthen the movement and garner international support. Notable figures such as Justice Rethard Sardar Abdul Hameed, Dr. Sheikh Waleed Rasool, and Sardar Zulfiqar Hussain Washington contributed their insights and perspectives.
The second session of the conference featured a question and answer session where participants provided suggestions regarding Kashmir policy and future strategies. Commissioner Poonch Division, Sardar Waheed Khan, expressed gratitude to the guests and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Dr. Fai in representing Kashmir on global platforms.
The event concluded with expressions of appreciation towards the President of INSPAD for organizing the conference and a commitment to continued cooperation in the future. Deputy Commissioner Syed Mumtaz Kazmi, SSP Muhammad Riaz Mughal and other district administration officers also participated in the conference, underscoring the significance of the discussions held.—KMS
