CHIEF of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir declared Friday the naysayers, who strove to create despair and despondency in the society, had been defeated through the collective efforts of all stakeholders. He said this during his visit to Karachi where he also inaugurated the Innovista Indus IT Park — a hub aimed at empowering the youth by fostering academia-industry collaboration in the field of IT, particularly Artificial Intelligence, and interacted with the business community.
Credit surely goes to the civil and the military leadership for a positive change in the overall economic scenario of the country, an achievement, which is visible not only to the people of Pakistan but also global institutions that are praising the progress made and expressing optimism about the future. There is no doubt that Pakistan was pushed to the brink of virtual default and some unscrupulous elements had been creating hindrances in the way of economic recovery and stabilization. Negative statements were churned out and global institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were approached in a bid to undermine efforts of the government aimed at putting the economy back on track. However, while the government’s economic team held fruitful negotiations with the IMF culminating into the release of the first tranche under the new bailout package, the civil and the military leadership persuaded friendly countries for required bilateral assistance. It was in this backdrop that General Asim appreciated the praiseworthy role performed by the brotherly and friendly countries, especially China, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, in the economic recovery of Pakistan by helping it in multiple domains. It is also known to all that the Pakistan Army provided crucial support in dealing with mafias of different sorts, which were inflicting harm on the national economy. Attempts are also being made by the enemy to destabilize the country and scuttle its march on the road to progress and prosperity but a firm decision has been taken to deal with trouble makers with an iron hand. The policy of intelligence-based operations is producing the desired results as reports pour in on an almost daily basis about decimation of terrorists and hard-core criminals. It is because of all this that the business activity is picking up momentum and there is a bee-line of investors from different countries, especially from China and the Gulf, making pledges and signing agreements with local partners for establishment of joint ventures in various fields including automobiles, cell phones, solar panels, corporate farming, oil and gas and IT and telecom. The country is moving forward because of the sincere approach and vision of the leadership and this journey will continue with the support of the masses.
