Donor conference for relief of victims of merged districts held

Under the auspices of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), a donor conference was organized with local and international NGOs for immediate relief to the victims of the merged districts, especially Khyber district. In which more than 70 international and local NGOs and charitable institutions, as well as heads and representatives of United Nations charitable institutions participated.

The conference was held in PDMA Auditorium, which was chaired by its Director General Sharif Hussain while representatives of Pakistan Army also participated in the conference on behalf of TDP Secretariat. In a statement issued by the spokesperson of PDMA, it has been said that the heads and representatives of all the institutions present in the conference were given a detailed briefing on education, health, infrastructure and other needs in the merged districts.

In the briefing, it was stated that the merged districts, especially Tirah Rajgul area of Khyber district, have been returned to 15,600 families in phase one. While from March 2023 to October 2023, a program has been created to repatriate around 15,700 more families, for which food, non-food items, education, health, infrastructure and other basic facilities are needed on an emergency basis for which on one hand, PDMA and the provincial government are working hard, while at the same time international and domestic charities should also cooperate with PDMA in providing the immediate needs of these homeless victims.
