In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has expressed serious concern over the deployment of additional troops by India in the territory to suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom struggle.

The DFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said the deployment of additional troops in IIOJK speaks volumes about India’s repressive policies towards Kashmir.

He said the troops’ massive concentration has been the main reason behind the continued bloodshed and violence in the territory.

The spokesman urged the international community to take notice of the massive human rights violations being committed by the Indian military and paramilitary forces and said that fresh deployment of troops would further worsen the rights situation in IIOJK that happens to be the world’s most militarized region.

He condemned Modi-led fascist Indian regime’s antagonistic approach towards Kashmir. He deplored that India was hell bent upon crushing the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle for right to self-determination through its military might.

The spokesman said on one hand, India has deployed over nine hundred thousand troops in IIOJK to control a small population, while on the other, it has suspended essential fundamental freedoms that have led to the ruthless suppression of expression of dissent in the territory.

He said thousands of political workers including top Hurriyat leaders have been left to rot in jails while a witch-hunt against civil society activists, rights defenders, and journalists continues unabated.—KMS
