Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said on Sunday that whatever Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) does, the Mayor of Karachi will belong to the Jamaat. Addressing a public gathering, Hafiz Rehman said that the by-elections are going to be held on April 18. On January 15, Jamaat-e-Islami emerged as the largest party in the city.
JI Karachi Ameer said that People’s Party wants to escape from the municipal elections. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the PPP wants the mayor to be elected without by-elections. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman alleged that the People’s Party has captured the seats won by the Jamaat-e-Islami.
Hafiz Rehman claimed that Jamaat-e-Islami will get the snatched seats anyway. He said that even though Jamaat-e-Islami is not in power, it is playing a role in providing relief to the citizens. Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer said that after learning from past experience, Jamaat-e-Islami will protect its vote.
