LAHORE Descon, being a socially responsible corporate entity has donated 10,000 kg Sanidol to the Punjab Government. The event took place on March 20, 2020, and was attended by Sardar Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister of Punjab, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Provincial Minister for Health, Imran Qureshi, CEO Descon Oxychem Ltd besides others. Given the recent pandemic outbreak and the shortage of sanitizers/ disinfectants, Descon took the initiative to donate a sizeable amount of Sanidol to the Punjab Government to be distributed to various government hospitals. Sanidol is a hydrogen peroxide-based sanitizer/disinfectant, manufactured by Descon Oxychem Limited. Corona Virus is said to settle on surfaces rather than stay in the air for long. It is extremely vital to disinfect surfaces in our homes, workplaces, and other public access areas to reduce the risk of spreading the disease. Hospitals across the country are playing a vital role in diagnosing and treating Corona victims. Hence, Descon felt the need to play a responsible part in helping these institutions battle this pandemic. Speaking at the event, Mr. Imran Qureshi, CEO Descon Oxychem Limited, stated, “We understand that the Government is exploring ways in which this pandemic can be dealt with. We deem it our responsibility, being the producers of an effective disinfectant to help the government is every way we can”. Descon’s purpose of existence is “We build prosperity by partnering in progress”. This initiative was taken with an intent to support the Government battle this crisis successfully.
