Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon has directed the deputy commissioners to remain in fields to check prices of essential food items fixed by the city administration along with the their concerned officials including the Assistant Commissioners and take action according to the law against the that shopkeepers violating the government rates and overcharging.
On Saturday on the directive of the Commissioner all deputy commissioners along with the concerned officers cheeked the prices and took action against violatorsAccording to the details. 363 profiteers were fined Rs 20, 14,000.00 in the campaign of action against profiteers by the city district administrations.
The deputy commissioner of District Malir reported to have imposed fines totaling Rs.56500 on 16 profiteers. In district central concerned magistrates fined Rs seven lac 94 thousand on 56 profiteers.
As per report submitted by the deputy commissioner of District East 150 profiteers were fined Rs.392000 . Officials of District West administration fined Rs. 32000 on 29 profiteers . The officials of keamari imposed fine of 59000 on 37 profiteers while in district South 53 profiteers were fined Rs 5 lac 60500 . 42 Profiteers were fined in district korangi one lac twenty thousand.
Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon has asked the deputy commissioners to continue campaign against the profiteers and ensure the efforts being carried by the city administration to provide the relief to the people especially during the month of Ramazan is successful. He said prices fixed by the City administration should be enforced strictly so as to people get essential food items on fixed prices.
