Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah chaired an important meeting, where several key directives were issued to boost revenue, ensure transparency, and preserve cultural heritage. The meeting, attended by senior officials including Secretary Auqaf Muhammad Mureed Rahmoon, Chief Administrator Auqaf Farrukh Shehzad Qureshi, and representatives from the Finance and Planning & Development Departments, focused on the enhancement of the department’s activities and oversight.

Among the significant decisions made, the Chief Secretary emphasized the involvement of the Heritage Department in the restoration and beautification efforts of shrines across the province. He stressed that the historical and cultural value of these sacred sites should be upheld during any restoration work, ensuring that their spiritual and cultural integrity is preserved for future generations. Furthermore, the Chief Secretary directed that all Auqaf-owned shops and agricultural lands should be leased at market rates to generate increased revenue for the department.

This measure aims to maximize the financial potential of the department’s assets. Additionally, Shah called for the removal of encroachments on Auqaf properties and highlighted the importance of transparency in managing these resources to avoid illegal occupation. Addressing the issue of food distribution at shrines, the Chief Secretary instructed the Sindh Food Authority to oversee and inspect the langar (free food distribution) facilities to ensure that visitors receive clean and quality food.
