Corona kills 83 Pakistanis, infects 2,980 in one day

Pakistan has confirmed 83 deaths in a single day by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 239,225. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 4,922, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center 2,980 persons have been tested positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours.
Till now 99,362 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 83,599 in Punjab, 28,681 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 10,919 in Balochistan, 13,659 in Islamabad, 1,595 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,419 in Azad Kashmir.
Punjab has reported 930 new Covid-19 cases, taking the provincial tally to 83,599, according to the government’s database on coronavirus.
It has also reported 30 more fatalities from the virus, taking the death toll to 1,929. The number of recovered patients in the province has risen to 50,916.
It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration has decided to enforce lockdown in seven more areas of Lahore after increasing number of coronavirus patients were reported from these areas.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Danish Afzaal has announced ‘smart lockdown’ in these localities of the city for a week from 2:00 midnight
Sindh has reported 1,736 more cases of the novel coronavirus, taking the provincial tally to 99,362.
