Corona kills 73 Pakistanis, infects 2,459 in one day

Seventy-three deaths were reported in the country on Tuesday in the last 24 hours by the novel Coronavirus as the number of positive cases surged to 443,246 and the fatalities jumped to 8,905.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Centre, 2,459 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
Till now 196,962 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 128,138 in Punjab, 52,787 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 35,045 in Islamabad, 17,771 in Balochistan, 7,750 in Azad Kashmir and 4,793 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The National Command and Operation Centre was informed on Tuesday that the current positivity ratio in the country is around 7.12pc, with the highest recorded in Hyderabad at 22.45pc.
After Hyderabad, Karachi has the second-highest positivity ratio of 19.89pc, followed by Peshwar at 19.04pc.
Regarding the number of patients deemed in critical condition, the NCOC was told that the number stands at 2,495 and “rising fast”. The country recorded 2,459 cases, with at least 73 people succumbing to the virus.
