Srinagar
In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (DPM), Khawaja Firdous, has condemned the continued illegal detention of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Masarrat Alam Butt.
Khawaja Firdous in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Masarrat Alam Butt was not being released despite that fact that the court had quashed his detention under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA).
He said the Indian government is afraid of the release of Masarrat Alam Butt, therefore, it is prolonging his illegal detention.
The Hurriyat leader deplored that the authorities had arrested hundreds of innocent youth in IIOJK during the last one week and sent them to the torture cells which was extremely condemnable.
Khawaja Firdous urged the world community and international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to release all illegally detained Kashmiri political leaders and settle the lingering Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.—KMS
