A preliminary report on the recent suicide attack near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport has confirmed the widely held belief that conspiracies are being hatched to destabilise Pakistan and scuttle its march on the path of progress and prosperity. The report indicated that attack was carried out with the assistance of a foreign intelligence agency with the objective of damaging Pakistan-China relations. It identified the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) as being involved in the attack.
Three people including two Chinese engineers were killed in the dastardly attack and selection of the target made it absolutely clear what the perpetrators of crime and their handlers were aiming at. Thanks to unwavering resolve of the Chinese leadership, Beijing is actively supporting efforts of Pakistan to address its economic ills and develop the economy on modern lines. Under the banner of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), historic initiatives are underway to create and upgrade international level infrastructure in different regions of Pakistan, which would help accelerate the pace of socio-economic development. In fact, China is cooperating with Pakistan in developing and modernising sectors, for which no other country is ready to extend necessary collaboration. It is in this backdrop that Chinese manpower, working on different development projects, has repeatedly come under attack with the objective of denting the close cooperation between the two friendly countries. However, credit goes to Chinese leadership that understands nature and motives of the threat and expresses firm determination to foil all such conspiracies together with Pakistan. It is also a reality that Balochistan has become focus of attention of foreign intelligence agencies because of its geographic location as well as its mineral resources. As more and more investment is pouring in to exploit natural resources of the province for good of its people, vested interests have become instrumental to obstruct the journey on the road to progress and prosperity. In this age of social awareness, people of Balochistan have the ability to differentiate between their foes and friends and all conspiracies would be foiled with their active support.
