The magistrates of Karachi division deputed to control the prices of essential food items during Ramazan have taken action against profiteers in different districts of the city under the supervision of deputy commissioners on the directives of the commissioner. Iftikhar Shallwani has asked all deputy commissioners to ensure that essential items are available to the consumers on government fixed prices and take stern action against profiteers and hoarders showing no leniency. Magistrates, including additional deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and mukhtiarkars, checked the prices and fined against those who violated the prices of grocery, fixed by the city administration and the prices of fruits and vegetables fixed daily basis by the market committee in coordination with the assistant commissioner Gulzar-e-Hijri.
