Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Tuesday said that all available resources should be utilised to bring in to justice the thugs, proclaimed offenders, land grabbers and court absconders who are harassing the noble citizens by causing trouble to them.
“Intelligence-based operations as well as modern technology and other resources should be fully utilized to arrest such anti-social elements across the province.”
Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan issued the instructions in a letter sent to all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs of the province.
The IG Police directed the RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to take stern action against the criminal elements who are enemies of life and property of the people.
He further said that prompt legal action against crooks, mafias and their patrons and those occupying public or private property is the top priority of the Punjab Police.
He said that full support should be sought from other government departments and if any influential person or government official is found to be supporting the occupation mafia, stern legal action should be taken against him irrespective of his status and designation.
Rao Sardar Ali said that immediate steps should be taken to bring notorious criminals and proclaimed offenders to justice by using all available resources including modern technology, adding that no effort should be spared in taking stern legal action against the guarantors of proclaimed offenders and court absconders involved in heinous crimes by confiscating their surety bonds.
He further said that to further improve the atmosphere of security in the society, counter-operations and intelligence-based operations should be intensified and weekly reports of these operations should be sent to the Central Police Office on regular basis.
