Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will today perform the Torch Lighting ceremony in connection with 34 th National Games Quetta at the Mazar at 11 a m today.
The Olympic Torch for the 34th National Games 2023 will be kindled at Quaid-e-Azam Mazar in Karachi on May 6 th (today), 2023 where the First National Games were held and inaugurated by Quaid-e-Azam himself. The Torch will then be transported to the venue of the National Games in a ceremonial manner, in accordance with the traditions of the Olympic Games.
The Olympic Torch Relay ceremonies will kick from today. In this connection, the first torch lighting ceremony will take place today at the Mazar of Quaid to be followed by ceremony at Iqra University and then Sir Syed University Karachi.
Aczording to Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, Secretary General, Pakistan Olympic Association, the torch will then move to other big cities i.e. Peshawar, Lahore, Islamabad, AJK and Lahore from May 7 and the journey will continue till May 12 with relay activities in Quetta.
