The civil society members in Indian illegally occu-pied Jammu and Kashmir have said that abrogation of articles 370 and 35-A by India can neither alter facts nor dent the Kashmiris’ indigenous struggle for right to self-determination.

The civil society members, including Dr Zubair Ahmed, Muhammad Furhan, Muhammad Iqbal Shaheen and Syed Haider Hussain, in a meeting in Srinagar called for the restoration of articles 370 and 35-A in their original form, an end to the atrocities and immediate solution to the Kashmir dispute in line with the United Nations resolutions

They said the unconstitutional move to give false support to illegal occupation cannot change the facts that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally-recognized disputed territory and only the people of Jammu and Kashmir can decide their fate as enshrined in the United Nations resolutions.

They expressed concern over the silence of the international community over the plight of the Kashmiri people and said that it was high time for them to put pressure on India to stop genocide of Kashmiri people meant to bring about a demo-graphic change in the valley.

The civil society members said the UN and in-ternational community should play their role to settle the Kashmir dispute adding that the Indian forces were treating innocent people of occupied Kashmir inhumanly and the way India had exploited the Kashmiris’ due rights by depriving them of their right to self-determination was beyond the condemnation, they added.—KMS
