Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday speaking to a private news channel said that the spread of the coronavirus could’ve been stopped by means of a national lockdown but the government acted late.
He said the world has observed and the findings are now conclusive that the virus spreads through social interaction and social distancing is the best way to combat the conundrum. The CM also said that the federal government did not agree with the lockdown strategy otherwise the lockdown might’ve been imposed sooner rather than later, adding the Sindh government would’ve locked down the province on March 13 had it not been for the federal government. He said that if the federal government had paid heed to his call then local contraction of coronavirus would not have been as big a deal as it has become now.Shah also revealed that the ongoing lockdown in Sindh will be relaxed slowly and steadily with a hand on the pulse of how the virus behaves in the coming days and how many more get affected by it.Murad Ali Shah revealed that approximately 5000 people from a religious organisation were tested for coronavirus out of which a few tested positive.
Moreover, in his video message released from the CM House on Monday the CM said threat of COVID-19 has completely changed our lifestyle, therefore his government is preparing Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) for each and every sector, including mosques, educational institutions, shopping centers and other areas of operation for post-lockdown period.
“Now, new rules of leading day to day life are developing and in the post lockdown period the life will not be the same as it was in the first week of January 2020, therefore everyone will have to reshape hisand her domestic, business, social life.” He said the number of confirmed coronavirus patients has reached to 932 in the province. Chairing a meeting, the CM said 51 more COVID-19 cases were reported across the province on Monday, taking the Sindh’s tally to 932. He said that 17 people have lost their lives from the novel coronavirus till date.
“A total of 932 coronavirus patients were reported across the Sindh province so far out of which 253 have been discharged after getting their health back,” he added. He said that about 8,931 tests had been performed in Sindh so far, while there are 662 active corona patients in Sindh.“130 people are admitted at govt-run hospitals, while 192 are receiving treatment at the private hospital”, said Murad, adding that around 342 positive coronavirus patients are under self-isolation at their homes.
