A meeting of Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held in the Civil Secretariat chaired by Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat on Friday.
Provincial ministers Ansar Majeed Khan, Hashim Dogar and Taimur Ahmed Khan, Inspector General Punjab Shoaib Dastagir, Additional Chief Secretary Momin Agha, Special Branch AIG and related officers were also present. Committee reviewed law and order situation in the city regarding Pak Bangladesh cricket series. Law-enforcing agencies while briefing said that the law and order situation in the city was satisfactory so far.
The law minister directed that security be kept on high alert during cricket matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi and a traffic plan should be set up in the city in such a way that minimum problems would be created for the people.
The issue of deployment of the Special Police Unit for the security of foreigners in the under construction Faisalabad Industrial and economic Zone was postponed for further consultation with the stake holders.
The committee also approved a supplementary grant of Rs 276. 6 million for salaries of 897 employees of the Punjab Safe City Authority in addition to Rs 388 million for operational and maintenance cost.
