The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has started the process of mailing books to students of Matric and FA, who were enrolled in Autumn, 2019 semester.
This was for first-time in the history of AIOU, that the mailing process was undertaken, when the admission process for Matric and FA was still going on. September 20 was the last date of the admission for both the programs.
This was done according to the annual academic calendar, prepared for the purpose, on the initiative of the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum.
According to Director Mailings, the mailing process will be completed at the earliest so as to facilitate the students to undertake their academic work, like submission of assignments.
This will also ensure timely conducting of examination and announcement of results. The Mailing Directorate was taking all possible measures to maintain accuracy in the dispatching work. The Vice Chancellor gives top priority to the mailing of books to the enrolled students well before time, he added.
The mailing of the books is a huge task, as the University is to cater the needs of its around 1.4 students annually.
Meanwhile, the university is also in process of digitalizing its overall working, through a gradual process, that will facilitate online mailing of books and other allied material.
At the M.Phil and PhD-level, the students have already started receiving online reading material.
