A daring bid to smuggle 2500 kgs of wheat out of the district was foiled by two truck drivers by the police and PASSCO officials near motorway interchange here last night. According to official source, two truck drivers, Siraj-ul-Haq and Nazir Ahmad had purchased 500 bags of wheat each from Jalalpur Bhattian and Tibba Shah Behlool and were proceeding to Sawabi and Peshawar on two trucks. On a tip off, Assistant Commissioner Pindi Bhattian Muhammad Aslam Marth and PASSCO Project Manager Gul Nawaz alongwith police intercepted the trucks near the motorway.
Meanwhile following death of Ghulam Shabbir son of Muhammad Ramzan, a grocer of Main Bazaar Jalalpur Bhattian due to COVID-19 in Jinnah Hospital Lahore on April 26, the authorities here have sealed Mohallah Islampura near Masjid Muslim Sheikhan Wali Jalalpur Bhattian and got swab samples of 35 persons and 11 doctors and paramedical personnel in DHQ Hospital Hafizabad and sent to the Institute of Public Health for report. The authorities have directed the residence of the street of Ghulam Shabbir not to come out the street. The authorities have also directed the dwellers of adjacent localities not to enter in the suspected street.
