Renowned classical dancer, social activist, and founder of the cultural action group Tehrik-i-Niswan Sheema Kermani was eliminated from event held at the British Dep-uty High Commission after raising voice in support of the people of Gaza.
According to reports, classical dancer said that the event was organized to commemo-rate King Charles III’s birthday and was attended by a variety of guests, including artists, politicians, parliamentarians, bureaucrats, and other officials.
Sheema Kirmani raised the slogan “Ceasefire Now” while speeches were being made and felicitations were being sent to Britain.
This prompted security personnel to approach her and at-tempt to remove her from the premises. Sheema Kermani explained that she had re-quested the security personnel not to touch her, as she would leave on her own.
The report says, he added that she had to raise the slogan in support of the people of Gaza as the other guests were congratulating the British government and the royal family without making any mention of the atrocities happening in Gaza.
She was disap-pointed that none of the other guests joined her in taking a stand.
The British Deputy High Commission spokesperson stated that Kermani was shouting during a crucial speech about climate change by the British Deputy High Commis-sioner.
The spokesperson added that security personnel intervened to prevent Sheema Kermani from shouting.
However, she left on her own volition. Therefore, it is inac-curate to claim that she was ejected.
