Bangladesh envoy visits Larkana chamber, discusses trade potential

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, S.M. MahbubulAlam, met with business leaders and office bearers of the Larkana Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCCI). Welcomed by the President, Senior Vice President, Vice Presidents, Secretary, and other key members of the LCCI, the Bangladeshi diplomat emphasized the potential for increased trade and investment between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

During the meeting, Deputy High Commissioner Alam highlighted Bangladesh’s ongoing efforts to increase bilateral trade volume to a billion US dollars, encouraging Pakistani businesspersons to explore new areas of export and import with his country. He also invited entrepreneurs from Pakistan to consider investing in Bangladesh, emphasizing the nation’s investment-friendly policies.

Alam noted that Bangladesh is actively establishing 100 special economic zones, welcoming foreign investors to take advantage of these opportunities. The Larkana business community expressed a strong interest in expanding trade relations with Bangladesh. Several key topics were discussed, including the need for direct flights and shipping links between the two countries, as well as simplified visa processes and the exchange of business delegations.

The Deputy High Commissioner also emphasized the importance of closer collaboration between the chambers of commerce from both countries and encouraged people-to-people connections to foster stronger economic ties. Both the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi and the LCCI expressed their commitment to providing full support for promoting trade and economic relations between the two countries. This meeting marks an important step in strengthening the ties between the business communities of Bangladesh and Pakistan.
