The Embassy of Azerbaijan Tuesday evening celebrated the 3rd Anniversary of the country’s Victory Day (Nov 8, 2020) marking the liberation of the Karabakh region from the clutches of the Armenian occupying forces. A grand reception was hosted by Ambassador Khazar Farhadov and Mrs Tarana Farhadov to celebrate the occasion with their Pakistani friends, diplomatic community and the Azerbaijan nationals.
Caretaker Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi was the Chief Guest while Senator Talha Mahmood, Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Turkmenistan Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov, Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Dilshad Senol and Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Kistafin were among the guests of honour on the occasion.
Congratulating the Ambassador on the Victory Day, Murtaza Solangi said Pakistan and Azerbaijan had long established brotherly and multilateral relations, which were getting stronger through increased economic cooperation and people-to-people contacts.
The Information Minister said bilateral trade between Pakistan and Azerbaijan had also increased in recent years and is expected to increase in the near future.
On behalf Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, the Government of Pakistan and the people of Pakistan, I extend my warmest congratulations to you, Excellency, he said adding it was on this historic day that Azerbaijan succeeded in liberating its occupied territories after 30 years of occupation.
He also lauded Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s dynamic leadership, which helped transformed the Republic of Azerbaijan into a regional hub and economic power. While expressing his gratitude, Ambassador Khazar Farhadov said three years ago, on Nov 8, Azerbaijan liberated its territories from Armenian occupation and restored its territorial integrity. “We honour with deep respect and gratitude our Martyrs who gave their precious lives for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of our country,” he said.
