The foreign affairs minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov on Thursday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss regional affairs as the two countries reaffirmed their bilateral support.
After the premier felicitated FM Bayramov on their recent triumph in reclaiming their lands from Armenia, he expressed contentment on the political ties Pakistan and Azerbaijan have forged. He thus emphasized with the FM on expanding bilateral trade and support in the energy sector between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister assured Baku of its assistance in rebuilding and developing recently retrieved lands on its borders to which the FM conveyed to PM Khan a message from their President Ilham Aliyev, acknowledging Pakistani support in their conflict with Armenia.
President Ilham Aliyev conveyed reassurance of solidarity and support for the Pakistani cause of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in his message meant for the PM.
Earlier, in a meeting, President Arif Alvi congratulated Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov over the “liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh” and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the country’s territorial integrity on Thursday.
Bayramov thanked Pakistan for its support in the conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He added that Azerbaijan would stand by Pakistan on the Kashmir issue on all international forums.
President Alvi and FM Bayramov also talked about the need to expand bilateral trade and strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
Earlier in the day, Bayramov visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he planted a sapling.
