Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday said that after clarification of the situation by the DG ISPR, the PDM should shut its mouth. “Calling names to parliament and implicate the army in political issues is no politics but sheer foolishness.”
SACM on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that any attempt to make national institutions controversial is sheer enmity with the nation. She regretted that the Pakistan army is defeating the nefarious intentions of the enemy on the borders day and night while the PDM has opened a front against the armed forces. Insha Allah, we will thwart every conspiracy against the armed forces of Pakistan, she stressed.
The SACM emphasized that the whole nation is firmly standing behind the armed forces while the opposition is confronting the armed forces at the most critical moment of our history, it is against all the norms of patriotism to target the armed forces. On the other side, the army has set an example of selflessness by allocating its share of corona vaccine for health workers and there is a message for PDM to learn from this great sacrifice.
Dr Firdous said the government is working to meet the water needs of the farmers as well as the common man by building a network of small and intermediate dams in areas where water shortage is a big issue. The dams will provide clean potable water to locals besides irrigating the agricultural lands.
The SACM said that an agreement has been signed between the Provincial Irrigation Department and NESPAK for the construction of small and intermediate dams.
The feasibility study will be carried out using modern drone technique for the construction of small and intermediate dams on 13 hill torrents, she further said.
The Special Assistant said that these dams will be able to store an abundant amount of water and the pilot project for the construction of the reservoirs will begin in June this year. She said the construction of small and intermediate dams will irrigate more than 200,000 acres of land besides minimizing the impact and losses from floods. Initially, water reservoirs will be built at Hathimor, Jalebimor, Khar Monro and Thalang, she further said.
Dr Firdous said the former rulers used to take kickbacks in the construction of roads, bridges and underpasses and minted money from short term projects. On the other side, Usman Buzdar is taking practical steps for a safe and better Punjab.
