In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have issued a ‘low’ danger level avalanche warning over higher reaches of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district for next 24 hours.
Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) in a statement today said ‘low’ danger level ava-lanche is likely to occur above 2500 metres above sea level in the district.
People living in these areas have been in the meantime advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the ava-lanche prone areas till further orders.
Meanwhile, the weather department of the territory forecast intermittent light to moderate snowfall and rain in IIOJK. An official of local meteorological department said intermittent light to moderate snowfall/rain (thunderstorm with rain in Jammu region) is expected at most places of IIOJK with main activity on February 28th evening till March 1st.
He said that the weather may affect surface transportation over major passes like Srinagar-Jammu highway, Sinthan Top, Sadna Top etc. during March 1st-2nd.—KMS
