PESHAWAR – At least 43 people were killed and over 170 injured as armed clashes between two tribes in Pakistan’s Kurram district entered sixth day on Monday.
The clashes ensured in Boshera village in Upper Kurram district six days ago over a piece of land. The highway in Parachinar is closed to all types of traffic, causing difficulties for the residents of region.
Meanwhile, people in various cities across the country, including Peshawar and Islamabad, have started protesting against the clashes, asking the authorities to defuse the tension.
Deputy Commissioner of Parachinar Javedullah said the administration, forces, and peace jirga are engaged in efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
Late at night, there was intense firing exchange at four locations in Kurram District, he said, adding that eight more people were killed.
He stated that a ceasefire has been achieved in Boshra, but efforts to establish a ceasefire in other areas. Despite agreement on a ceasefire in various areas of Lower Kurram, clashes continue.
