In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called upon Kashmiris to observe a complete shutdown on October 5 (Wednesday) against Hindutva leader and Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the occupied territory.
Call for the strike has been given by the APHC spokesman and supported by other parties and leaders to convey a message that they reject India’s illegal hold of their homeland.
The APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that road or so-called projects were not important for the Kashmiris, instead they want the settlement of the UN-acknowledged Kashmir dispute in its historical background.
APHC said the RSS-backed fascist Modi regime has broken all the records of terrorism and brutality and has usurped all the basic rights of the Kashmiri masses.
The APHC maintained that the scrapping of Article 370 and 35-A was a blatant violation of international laws and direct attack on the basic and political rights of the Kashmiri people. Since 5 August 2019 when special status of IIOJK was snatched, Kashmiris are not only under military and police siege but Indian forces’ personnel and BJP regime have intensified their atrocities in the occupied territory, the spokesman said.
Future of around one and half billion people is associated with the Kashmir dispute and this future can only be secured by resolving the dispute as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, the statement added.
The APHC said that India had turned Kashmir into a military garrison where human rights violations were taking place every now and then.
The APHC pointed out that besides committing heinous crimes against humanity, the Modi regime has hatched numerous conspiracies to change the demography of IIOJK.
The statement said the Hindutva BJP-RSS is hell-bent to turn Kashmir into graveyard and settle Hindu goons in the territory.
The spokesman urged brave people of Srinagar, Baramulla and Rajouri to stage protest and boycott the official functions. APHC said that tens of thousands of people have been martyred, thousands subjected to enforced disappearance and thousands are facing illegal detentions.
By observing shutdown on Amit Shah’s visit, the Kashmiris will reiterate the pledge that the sublime cause for which people have sacrificed their lives and property cannot be compromised with economical and financial grants,” the spokesman maintained.
Meanwhile, the several parties and leaders have also extended their support to the strike call.—KMS
