The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Sheharyar Afridi has briefed the Director of United Nations of the Human Rights Watch (HRW), Louis Charbonneau, on the human rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Sheharyar Afridi held a meeting with Louis Charbonneau on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

Human Rights Watch, a prominent rights inter-national watchdog, has issued a number of reports critical of India’s human rights abuses in Kashmir, especially after New Delhi’s illegal annexation of the disputed territory on August 05, 2019.

Sheharyar Afridi, who is on a visit to the US, has been meeting the human rights activists and organizations, urging them to speak out against the brutalities being committed by Indian forces on the oppressed people of IIOJK.—KMS
