Action against smoke emitting vehicles continues

On the direction of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, police teams are cracking down against smoke emitting vehicles across the province, in continuation of which, this year 04 lakh 95 thousand 792 challans of vehicles that emit excessive smoke were issued across the province. 01 lakh 08 thousand 98 vehicles were impounded in police stations across the province, while the fitness certificates of 7127 vehicles were seized for violating the rules. All these vehicles were causing an increase in smog due to excessive smoke emissions.

Spokesman Punjab Police said that in the crackdown against vehicles that emit a lot of smoke, challans of 20,911 vehicles, 7,167 vehicles were impounded and fitness certificates of 386 vehicles were siezed during the last week. Whereas during the last day, 2585 vehicle challans, 915 vehicles were impounded, and 47 vehicles’ fitness certificates were sieved. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar ordered a strict crackdown on vehicles emitting high levels of smoke across the province. IGP directed that indiscriminate actions should be taken against the vehicles, causing an increase in smog. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed to ensure strict implementation of all traffic rules, including action against excessive smoke and over speeding on the roads.
