A large number of the students of Physical Therapy (DPT) of the Riphah International University have condemned the university’s abrupt decision to shift from a peaceful, spacious premises in Islamabad’s H-8 sector to a plaza located in the Chour Chowk.
More than 200 female students and their parents found themselves in an awkward situation when the university administration on Wednesday told them to go and attend classes at the new building in Rawalpindi as the university admin had lost its building to a Madarassa located nearby.
While talking to Pakistan Observer, a number of students complained that at the time of admissions in the Riphah University’s building Sector G-7/4, they were told that they would be moved to the Wish Campus Located in H-8. “Now we are asked to go and join classes in a plaza that too in Rawalpindi’s most populated Chour Chowk,” said a student wishing not to be named.
Travelling from Islamabad to Rawalpindi on daily basis is not an easy thing and we have raised the issue with the university’s administration and highups but no one is ready to listen to us, said a visibly agitated mother of a DPT student.
Recently, they have lost the case henceforth they are now shifting us to a tower named Potohar Tower on Peshawar Road near Chour Chowk, which has no boundary wall and no security, said another student.
Moreover, it is located next to a Showroom and a cars’ workshop which cannot be allowed as per the rules of the HEC as well as the PMDC.
The students demanded either they let them stay and study in G-7/4 Campus or made arrangement of campus only in Islamabad in a secure safe sound open spacious place.
When asked if they had raised the matter with the vice chancellor of the university or some official on senior level, parent of a student said they have threatened us to pay the fees of second semester in advance failing which we (our daughter and her classmates) would not be allowed to appear in the final exams.
