The Peshawar High Court’s principal seat and all other offices will be sealed from today, May 13 to May 31 after several employees tested positive for the Coronavirus.
According to the notification, two single benches will be functional during this period, while two principal staff officers shall work in rotation.
Further, all principal seat staff shall submit an affidavit declaring that neither them nor their immediate relatives and neighbours are infected with the virus or suspected to be infected with the virus, it added.
National Assembly member and politician from South Waziristan, Ali Wazir has tested positive for coronavirus, Mohsin Dawar, another lawmaker from the tribal region said on Tuesday.
“Our friend Ali Wazir has been tested positive for Covid-19,” Dawar said in a tweet. “He is taking necessary precautions and is fine for now. We request everyone to please remember him in your prayers.”
Meanwhile, after Pakistan reported 1,140 new cases, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases jumped to 32,916 and 39 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, raising the country’s death toll to 733, while at least 8,555 patients have recovered.
The Sindh Young Nurses Association has said they will be boycotting work at hospitals in order to stage a sit-in outside the Karachi Press Club from today.
The SYNA president Aijaz Kaleri maintained that though the nurses in the province had been putting their lives at risk due to Covid-19, the provincial health department continued to deny them coronavirus risk allowances or health professional allowances.
Eighteen coronavirus deaths have been reported in Sindh during the past 24 hours which is the highest toll so far, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
He added that 10,163 patients are currently being treated for the coronavirus. Shah also urged citizens to strictly follow the standard operating procedures outlined by the government to curb the spread of the virus.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah warned that lockdown measures may once again be tightened if traders and the public continue to flout standard operating procedures meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus. In a video message, he said: “I have received reports that nobody, including traders and the public, is observing the government’s SOPs.”
The nationwide tally of Covid-19 patients on Tuesday stood at 32,916 with 11,868 cases in Punjab, 12,610 in Sindh, 5,021 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2,158 in Balochistan, 457 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 716 in Islamabad and 86 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department, in its daily situational report, has confirmed 10 new casualties due to coronavirus – five in Peshawar, three in Mardan, and one each in Swabi and Malakand – taking the death toll to 267 and146 new cases were also reported in the past 24 hours to bring the total confirmed cases to 5,021 in the province.
Punjab health authorities reported 301 new cases, raising the provincial tally to 11,868. Out of the 301 cases, 194 emerged from Lahore.
The district administration of Lahore has also formed a home isolation committee and will seek services of population welfare, livestock and excise department.
Balochistan has reported 97 new coronavirus cases, according to the provincial health directorate. The number of total infections in the province now stands at 2,158. The Balochistan Health Department, in its daily situational report, has confirmed 97 new cases of coronavirus to raise the provincial tally to 2,158.
