In a high-level meeting chaired by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, discussions were held regarding the public-private partnership (PPP) projects in Sindh. The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, and Minister for Energy Nisar Shah, among other key officials.
The session began with a briefing from Sindh Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Public-Private Partnership, Qasim Naveed Qamar, who outlined various ongoing and upcoming PPP initiatives in the agriculture, fisheries, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure sectors. Key points of the briefing included improvements in agricultural infrastructure, expected to result in record production increases for crops such as rice, potatoes, bananas, oranges, mangoes, guava, and dates. Additionally, the focus on fisheries emphasized increasing exports through enhanced packaging and processing under PPP models.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also briefed on the plans to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Sindh with the collaboration of global institutions. The importance of these initiatives for Sindh’s future economic development was emphasized during the discussion. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari praised the Sindh government for its efforts in utilizing PPP projects to improve infrastructure in sectors like health and energy.
He stated that these partnerships could lead to a major economic transformation, particularly in agriculture and fisheries. He further added that these projects would contribute to strengthening the national economy.
The PPP Chairman acknowledged that the vision of public-private partnerships, which was initiated by the late Benazir Bhutto in 1993, has come to fruition today, with significant results seen in various sectors. The meeting was also attended by Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah and DG of the Public-Private Partnership Unit, Asad Zamin.
