A review meeting on the upcoming anti-polio campaign was held under the leadership of Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, with Deputy Commissioners, Emergency Operations Center Coordinator Irshad Sodhar, and Karachi Polio Task Force Coordinator Saud Yaqoob Khosa in attendance. The meeting confirmed that the citywide anti-polio drive will begin on October 28 and continue for a week, targeting over 2.76 million children for vaccination.
Officials briefed the attendees, noting that the Emergency Operations Center and Deputy Commissioners have completed the campaign’s logistical arrangements, with 400 independent monitors recruited to identify and resolve any operational challenges faced by the vaccination teams. The meeting also underscored the need to focus on children who may have missed doses or whose families are hesitant to participate. Special measures will be taken by Deputy Commissioners to reach these children, with the support of parents and community leaders, ensuring the campaign’s success. Commissioner Naqvi appealed to parents to cooperate with polio teams, emphasizing that the vaccine is essential for their children’s future health and protection against polio.
