IG oversees police training digital transformation

Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam NabiMemon, chaired a review meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi to discuss the expansion of the police training branch and the digitalization of training courses. Additional directives were also issued during the meeting. Key participants included Additional IGs of Training, Establishment, DIGs of Establishment, Headquarters, IT, Admin Karachi, Training, Finance, AIGs of Admin, M&P, and PDIT.

DIGs from Hyderabad, Larkana, SSPs from Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas joined via video link. During the meeting, DIG Training provided a detailed briefing on the expansion of the police training branch and the digital shift of training courses. He informed that the Sindh Police has introduced an online application to facilitate trainees, which also monitors attendance and other relevant data.

The application includes access to online books and literature on various training topics. Additionally, the integration of distance learning facilities into the app is under consideration. IG Sindh praised the efforts of DIG Training and his team for introducing a modern, comprehensive application for the training department.

He emphasized that reforms in the training sector are essential to align police training standards with modern demands and to address various challenges faced during the training process. He also stressed the importance of adding features like certification in investigation, accounting, and capacity building to the application. Later, IG Sindh visited the under-construction training branch and addressed students of the ongoing accounting course, highlighting the importance of transferring financial resources to the grassroots level.

He noted that the Sindh government has provided budgets, health insurance up to 1 million rupees for personnel, and financial allowances for the investigation sector to the police stations.

He expressed hope that after completing their accounting training, the trainees would ensure the correct and transparent use of police station budgets. During his visit, IG Sindh also engaged in conversations with the trainees and answered their questions.
