Punjab govt sets up largest quarantine centre in Multan

The Punjab government has established the largest quarantine center at Multan Industrial Estate to keep pilgrims returning from Iran in isolation.
In a statement, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said this quarantine center consists of 3000 rooms. He said 1247 pilgrims, who returned from Iran, have been shifted to this quarantine, and every pilgrim is kept in a separate room.
The foreign minister said a 50-bed hospital has also been set up to provide health facilities at the quarantine center in Multan. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the government is taking all possible measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
He said people should implement the instructions being given by the government and take preventive measures so that this difficult situation could be dealt with successfully.
At least one hundred CCTV cameras are installed at the quarantine center. The Multan quarantine center is the country’s largest treatment facility. The district would host all the pilgrims at the quarantine center, which has the capacity to accommodate 3,000 people.

Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Information Nadeem Qureshi urged masses to adopt preventive measures to protect themselves from coronavirus.
Holding a press conference here on Friday, Nadeem Qureshi said that all possible resources were being utilized to protect masses from the virus. He said that people who were criticising government’s arrangements against coronavirus should notice the steps being taken by the other countries.
He said that government has decided not to impose lock down by keeping in view the situation of a common man.
He added that one of the biggest quarantine has been set up in Multan to facilitate people of the South Punjab. He said that Welfare trust was the best option for quarantine where citizens have been accommodated in separate room. Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Khalid Naseem Chandio Friday said that all preventive measures were being adopted for staffers regarding coronavirus issue.
While talking to APP here, WASA MD Khalid Naseem said that agency’s main objective was service delivery to citizens and added that whole staff was present on duty and complaints received telephonically regarding sewerage were being resolved.
However, the entry of people in the office is banned under the directions of Punjab government as step to avert from coronavirus. He said that face masks were being provided to staffers and added that field staff was directed to ensure all precautionary measures including use of gloves and face masks. —INP
