In a significant meeting at Rangers Headquarters, Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), SardarShahid Ahmed Laghari, and Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh, Major General AzharWaqas, convened to deliberate on humanitarian initiatives within the province. During the dialogue, Chairman Laghari reiterated PRCS’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts, particularly highlighting its responsive actions during crises such as the 2022 floods.
He emphasized PRCS’s collaboration with esteemed organizations like IFRC, ICRC, and Red Cross to swiftly provide relief to over 2.8 million individuals across 55 districts, especially targeting underserved regions. Chairman Laghari detailed PRCS’s extensive flood response activities in Sindh, encompassing essential supplies distribution, shelter provision, water treatment installations, and cash assistance to affected families.
He also shed light on ongoing recovery programs focusing on shelter, livelihood support, water, sanitation facilities, hygiene promotion, and food distribution. Furthermore, Laghari outlined PRCS’s role in capacity building and various programs in collaboration with Sindh provincial and district branches, including the provision of ambulances to enhance emergency care services during floods.
DG Rangers Sindh, Major General AzharWaqas, commended PRCS’s invaluable contributions to humanitarian causes, acknowledging its pivotal role during natural disasters. He praised PRCS’s dedication under Chairman Laghari’s leadership, recognizing its transcendent impact on humanitarian endeavors. Expressing full support, DG Rangers pledged collaborative efforts with PRCS to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable communities, emphasizing the readiness of Rangers to assist in humanitarian endeavors.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields between Chairman PRCS SardarShahid Ahmed Laghari and DG Rangers Sindh Major General AzharWaqas, symbolizing the alliance forged for humanitarian aid.
