ISLAMABAD – International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday raised serious concerns on the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and demanded Pakistan to ensure transparency in the projects.

The IMF said that the report on PSDP project submitted by Pakistan lacked details.

“The budget document should be effective,” said the IMF, asking the relevant authorities to indicate the location and development formats of the PSDP projects.

The IMF, according to the sources, asked the government to finalize the PSDP projects by keeping in views in the upcoming budget.

They said that the Planning Commission, finance and planning ministries would complete the paperwork in line with the IMF directives.

The sources said that Pakistan is likely to sign the Extended Fund Facility Programme for the three years and would share budget proposals for FY-2024-25 with the IMF.

“The IMF would be assured about further increase in the electricity and gas bills and ending subsidies before the new loan programme,” they added.
