Do You Need To Reprint Your Nadra Id Card After Iris Scan

ISLAMABAD – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified whether citizens need to apply for a reprint of their identity cards after completing iris registration.

Responding to queries from citizens, a NADRA official said there is no requirement to apply for a new or reprinted ID card after an iris scan. Citizens only need to visit any NADRA registration centre to have their iris data recorded.

NADRA introduced a free iris scanning facility at its registration centres across Pakistan last month as part of efforts to strengthen identity records and improve biometric verification.

Citizens can use the service without paying any additional fee at their nearest NADRA centre. The authority has also encouraged parents to bring children aged three years and above for iris registration.

The iris-based system identifies individuals through the unique patterns in their eyes and is designed to complement existing biometric verification methods.

According to NADRA, expanding its biometric database will improve the security and accuracy of identity verification. The authority said the initiative could also help protect citizens’ records against misuse and fraud while making future verification processes quicker and easier.
