We will promote liberalism in Pakistan: Governor

President Arif Alvi said that Pakistan has given a message of peace after inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor project, adding that Sikh yatrees were welcomed in Pakistan not only on occasion of birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak, but anytime as Pakistan’s doors were opened to them. Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said, “We will promote liberalism in Pakistan and would eradicate extremism, the way we eliminated the terrorism from country”.
They expressed these views while addressing the participants of a luncheon hosted in honor of more than 2,000 Sikh yatrees across world including India. Sikh yatrees expressed joy over the arrangements regarding 550th birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak and opening of Kartarpur Corridor project, whereas the Sikh yatrees also performed ‘Bhangras’. President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi, Governor Punjab Ch Mohammad Sarwar, Federal Ministers Fawad Ch, Peer Noor Ul huq Qadri and others also attended the luncheon.
He congratulated the Religious tourism and Heritage committee working under the leadership of Ch Mohammad Sarwar for making arrangement for Kartarpur opening ceremony and for arrangements made for 550th birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak sb.He said that Pakistan was advocating love and peace as wars were not the solution of issues and issues should be resolved through dialogues, he added. Addressing on the occasion, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar congratulated the Sikh yatrees on 550th birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak and opening of Kartarpur Corridor project and said that all facilities including foolproof security and accommodation would be provided to the Sikh yatrees on birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak, which would be remembered.
He said that Pakistan was a safe country for minorities, adding that we were working for restoration of religious places of not only Sikh community but also other minorities including Christians and Hindus. The Governor said that Pakistan always stood by minorities but on the other side, life has become difficult for the minorities in India as Indian Supreme court decision in Babari Masjid case was a result of RSS and Indian leaders’ pressure on its judiciary.
He said that India was committing genocide of innocent Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir as 99 days have been passed since imposition of curfew in occupied valley, due to which even basic facilities were not available to Kashmiris, adding that the time has come to take notice of Indian atrocities and to get freedom for Kashmiris besides ensuring protection of minorities in India.
Earlier, talking to the media after inaugurating picture exhibition of Punjab University at Alhamra, he said that hopefully today, the name of Nawaz Sharif would be excluded from Exit Control List (ECL) after which he can travel anywhere for his medical treatment.
He said that everyone was concerned about the health condition of Nawaz Sharif, adding that “We do not want to take any risk on Nawaz Sharif’s health as the government has provided him best health-care facilities at Service Hospital”, whereas the government would cooperate in Nawaz Sharif’s medical treatment.
