The latest reduction means petrol will be sold at Rs392.05 per litre from September 23, while HSD will be available at Rs418.96 per litre. Petroleum Division said the latest fuel-price revision was based on developments in the international petroleum market.

The adjustment reflects changes in Platts rates, petroleum premiums and incidental costs, which influence the calculation of domestic fuel prices. The announcement comes as global crude prices recorded a significant decline on Tuesday, with the market responding to an improved outlook for oil supplies from the Gulf region.

Brent crude for November delivery fell $2.11, or 2.1%, to $98.23 per barrel. Meanwhile, October WTI declined $2.48, or 2.59%, to $93.30 per barrel, while November WTI dropped $2.36, or 2.55%, to $90.01 per barrel. All three contracts reached their lowest levels since September 8.

The fall in oil prices followed indications from Iran that it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if US military pressure is eased and the blockade on Iranian ports is lifted. Iran has also authorised its UN delegation to pursue renewed diplomatic efforts with Washington.

Any easing of tensions around the Strait of Hormuz could improve expectations for global oil shipments and reduce concerns about prolonged supply disruptions.

Saudi Arabia has restarted its East-West Pipeline and could resume crude exports through Yanbu port. Exports through Yanbu were halted after drone attacks on September 13. A resumption of shipments from the port could further improve expectations about Gulf oil supplies.
