Pakistan secured the bronze medal in the women’s cricket competition at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place playoff at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Tuesday.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 145-8 in 20 overs, with captain Fatima Sana leading the scoring with an unbeaten 45 off 30 balls, including three fours and three sixes.
Gull Feroza made 31 off 23 deliveries with six boundaries, while Aliya Riaz added 25 off 22 balls, including two sixes.
Shawaal Zulfiqar contributed 17 runs.
Bangladesh’s Ritu Moni, Shorna Akter and Nahida Akter took two wickets each, while Sanjida Akter Meghla claimed one.
In reply, Bangladesh managed 114-7 from their 20 overs. Shamim Akhter top-scored with an unbeaten 46 off 45 balls, while captain Nigar Sultana made 25 from 30 deliveries and Dilara Akter scored 12 off eight.
Umm-e-Hani was Pakistan’s standout bowler, finishing with 3-10 from four overs. Tasmia Rubab, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu and Ayesha Zafar took one wicket apiece.
The victory secured Pakistan the women’s cricket bronze medal at the Asian Games.
