A 3-member delegation of Turkish Maarif Foundation, led by Prof. Dr. BirolAkgun, President TMF, called on Governor Sindh, Imran Ismail at the Governor’s House on Thursday. The Consul General of Turkey, TolgaUcak was also present.
Matters of mutual interests & cooperation particularly in promotion of education & cultural activities in Pakistan were discussed.
Turkey’s Maarif Foundation, which had a status of an international NGO is now treated as a Turkish government institution in Pakistan, after formal signing of MoU between the two governments for promotion of literacy in Pakistan, in January 2021, in Islamabad.
Imran Ismail said: “After the inter-governmental agreement, foundation of a new educational consensus has been laid, inline with the present government’s policy, for the promotion of peace & development and to ensure equal opportunities to students to advance in life with a “clear mind, knowledge and understanding”.
The Governor Sindh noted that Pakistan and Turkey have always stood together in difficult times and share ties “beyond politics”.
TolgaUcak, CG of Turkey said that the two countries were having brotherly relations and Republic of Turkey will also stand with Pakistan for providing high quality education to its people.
“Maarif Foundation has now planned to expand its operations in Pakistan in terms of opening and running new campuses, cultural & educational centers, language centers, student exchange programs and scholarships”, said BirolAkgun, President TMF.
