Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has said that the government is pursuing a policy of zero tolerance for propaganda against any religion in the name of freedom of expression and religious bigotry. Interfaith is committed to building a harmonious society.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a 12-member delegation of International Religions Freedom (USA) at the Governor’s House.
Member National Assembly J. Prakash and Member Provincial Assembly Jamal Siddiqui were also present on the occasion.
The delegation was led by Elias Younis Masih. Dr. Also present were Joseph Paul Knight, Timothy Alan James, Pastor Tanie Guy, Pastor Jeffrey Allan Jacob, Ayesha Khan and Shazia Khan.
The Sindh government is taking steps to further strengthen interfaith harmony, the Sindh governor said.
He said that the present government believes that complete religious freedom, peace and development of the minority community in the country is essential.
He further said that the present government has done a great job in protecting the rights of minorities in Pakistan including the establishment of National Commission for Minorities and inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor.
The governor said that minorities across the country have full religious freedom and minorities are performing their religious duties freely in their respective places of worship.
On the ongoing human rights violations in Kashmir, the Sindh Governor said that Kashmir is currently known as the largest prison in the world.
“I urge all other international organizations, including the International Religious Freedom (USA), to play their part in the atrocities and inhumane treatment in Kashmir,” he added.
Elias Younis Masih, head of the International Religions Freedom (USA) delegation, said interfaith harmony is the key to coexistence, peace and prosperity among people of different faiths.
