The federal capital on Saturday reported 224 cases of coronavirus in a period 24 hours taking the total number of infections reported in the city to 19,818.
Likewise the number of deaths caused due to Covid-19 has also gone up to 217 with two deaths in one day. This is the first time that the federal capital has reported more than 200 new cases in one day since June this year.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat in exercise of powers granted under Epidemic Diseases Act, 1958, and in pursuance of recommendations of the Ministry of the National Health Services (NHS), and in order to prevent the community spread of virus has issued a notification directing the police and the district administration to seal street No. 18 of the Sector F-6/2, street no.1 of the Sector F-6/3, street no. 53 of Sector F-6/4, street No. 55 of Sector F-10/4 and Gali No.17 of Sector I-10/2 with effect from Oct 31 at 10 a.m.in larger public interest and until further orders.
However, it is made clear in the notification that essential services like pharmacy, patients for medical aid, rationing, drinking water supplies and emergency services are exempted from this order.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia meanwhile, talking to Pakistan Observer, said the District Health teams were tracing 474 contacts of the 140 positive cases of coronavirus and their samples were collected.
Contact tracing definitely slows the spread, said Dr Zaeem requesting the public to protect themselves, their families and community from spread of deadly coronavirus.
“We are monitoring the health signs of people who have been exposed to Covid-19,” he said. Earlier, DHO with his team conducted checking with random sampling in F6/other parts of the town.
In a message on twitter he requested the public to “Please bear with us, as we strive to maintain positivity rates lower. Our teams are continuously monitoring the entire region and following positive cases. We monitor our teams for better sampling.”
